Privacy Policy

How strutters.org, the website of the Strutters Executive Board of Tyler, Texas, handles information about the people who visit it.

At a glance

  • This website has no accounts, forms, or sign-ups, so we don't ask you for personal information here.
  • We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It uses cookies.
  • Some event pages show Google Maps and YouTube videos, and those services have their own privacy policies.
  • We don't sell or rent information about our visitors, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who we are

The Strutters Executive Board is a volunteer civic organization in Tyler, Texas, founded in 1939 and known for organizing the Texas Rose Festival Parade. This policy covers the website at strutters.org. Other websites we link to, including sponsors' sites, have their own policies.

Information we collect

You can use this website without telling us who you are. It has no accounts, contact forms, or newsletter sign-ups. The information connected to your visit comes from the services described below, mostly in the form of technical details your browser sends whenever it loads a web page.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a service from Google, to understand how the site is used. When you visit, it records information such as:

  • the pages you view and how long you stay
  • the website or search that brought you here
  • your type of device, browser, and screen
  • your approximate location (city or region), worked out from your internet connection

Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_LBXSVXZBWS so it can tell new visits from return visits. They last up to two years unless you delete them. Google says Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We see this information only as totals and trends, not as a record of who you are.

You can stop Google Analytics from recording your visits by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser, or by installing Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google explains how it uses this information in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Hosting and security

The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel receives technical information with each request, such as your IP address, your browser type, and the page requested, in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Vercel describes its practices in its privacy policy.

Fonts, maps, and videos from other services

Some parts of our pages are loaded directly from other companies, which means your browser connects to them and they receive your IP address and browser details:

  • Google Fonts supplies the typefaces used on every page.
  • Google Maps shows event locations on our event pages.
  • YouTube plays the parade route video on our parade pages, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.

These services operate under Google's privacy policy, and maps and videos may set their own cookies when they load or when you use them.

Sponsorships and registrations

When the Strutters accept sponsorships or event registrations online, payments are made on pages run by Stripe, a payment processor. You enter your payment details with Stripe, not on this website, and we do not receive or store your full card number. Stripe's handling of that information is described in its privacy policy.

How we use information

We use what we learn from analytics to understand which pages and events interest people, to improve the site, and to keep it running securely. We do not sell or rent information about our visitors, and we do not use it for advertising.

Children

This website is meant for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.
  • Install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on linked above.
  • Use your browser's private or incognito mode, which clears cookies when you close it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
